Hey, Bugs! We’re at the height of summer. Are you planning any vacations after lockdown? Well, while you figure out your summer plans, here’s another monthly roundup of Bugout news, highlights about amazing people who are part of our community, and projects by Bugout members that make our community stand out.
Bugs of the Month
Every month we feature active Bugout community members — great people, engineers, and hackers who are helping our community flourish with their support and insight.
A seasoned software engineer and tech lead, Mihai Todor is focused on cloud computing, scalability, monitoring and data streaming. He is currently working at Optum, where he is designing and building infrastructure and backend microservices. He is also an enthusiastic contributor for Benthos.
Apart from all that, Mihai is interested in bioinformatics / *omics for cancer and ageing research and is looking to connect with like-minded people in that field.
To get deeper into Mihai's vast experience, check out his GitHub and LinkedIn.
Bugout Highlights
We published v0.0.1 of the Humbug Java client. You can now set up Bugout usage, crash, and feature reports for your Java, Scala, Kotlin, or Clojure libraries and APIs.
We are eager for early feedback and are happy to help you get set up. Check out our GitHub repo.
Co-founder of Bugout, Sophia Aryan, talked about the origins of Bugout and shared her motivation to build it on the Bugout blog.
Project of the Month
Console is a free weekly round-up of open-source projects. It's all about free, useful, innovative software, and the developers that invest their time to maintain it.
Each newsletter will cover a new open-source project and publish an interview with developers behind it.
If you are working on an open-source project and would like to pitch it, feel free to reach out to Console’s creator Jackson Kelley.
If you are a part of something that is worth sharing, we highly encourage you to write about it at share_your_project in our Bugout Slack channel.
See you next month, Bugs! Thanks for being a part of our growing community!
