Hey Bugs! Catch up with the September edition of the Bugout community newsletter where we feature active Bugout members, interesting projects our community members are working on and Bugout news.
Bugs of the Month
We are featuring active Bugout community members
Our Bug of the Month is Matthew Rappard. Matthew is an Interim CTO and is currently working with StyleGANs or Style Generative Adversarial Network. His team used a StyleGan trained on human faces to generate virtual actors. On one of the projects, racial modifications of real actors' faces generated by a computer were used to determine the racial bias that movie audiences would have when seeing a film.
Thank you Matthew, for actively helping Bugout community members by responding to their technical requests and sharing your expertise!
Bugout Highlights
Our team recently began working on a new project called Moonstream. It brings Bugout’s product analytics and usage reports to the blockchain and is completely open source. There are many interesting blockchain use cases that we’re eager to tackle.
We’re also collecting terabytes of blockchain data, which could be of interest to the data scientists in our community. Datasets will be released on Kaggle as usual - stay tuned! You can learn more about Moonstream here.
Of course, nothing changes for Bugout customers and users who are not on the Ethereum blockchain. If you’re curious about the Moonstream development process, join us on Discord.
Projects of the Month
Every month we share projects that Bugout community members are working on. If you want your project to be featured here, share it at the #share_your_project channel at Bugout Slack.
Our project of the month is a liveProject by Nahid Alam: “Summarize COVID-19 News Using NLP and PyTorch”. In this liveProject, you’ll master text summarization techniques for summarizing news data by building a tool that can extract key information about COVID-19 from news articles using the PyTorch deep learning library.
We genuinely admire people who build things. Our goal at Bugout is to help makers succeed. If you have any ideas or suggestions about how we can improve our community and our newsletter, email: sophia@bugout.dev.
Thank you for being a part of our growing community! Stay tuned – there are plenty of exciting updates to come! 💙
